Heat accumulator for heating gases

RU patent № 2176767

The proposed heat accumulator can be used in space technology for heating gases and propellant components of rocket engines, also in aircraft industry and other branches of industry.
To increase effectiveness of heat accumulator operation, i.e. to increase the stored heat power, reliability and durability of its operation, the following design is proposed. The accumulator housing comprises interconnected leak-proof internal and unpressurized external housings, the uniform gap between them is filled with heat insulation having a fibrous structure. In the internal housing a heat-accumulating block is arranged which comprises section elements which are joined forming compensation gaps over longitudinal bulges on lateral surfaces of elements and forming an internal cavity to place an electrical cylindric heater in it. In the section elements channels are arranged uniformly over the circumference in which heat accumulators are tightly fitted that are made as pipelines which walls are firmly joined with the grain filling. Ends of pipelines are fixed by dissectors-fittings having sealants in the front and back covers of the internal leak-proof housing, thus forming with the help of two supplementary covers collector cavities for injection and discharge of gas. Besides, behind the external permeable housing the external shield-vacuum insulation is arranged as some groups of self-contained coaxial cylinders mounted on centering supports which are fastened to covers of the external housing and feature a wall thickness lessening from layer to layer.
