"The experience in using membrane technologies for purification and desalination of water"

The experience in exploitation of water-purifying plants using technologies, developed by Keldysh Research Center specialists on a basis of membrane purification of natural water and sewage, and appropriate equipment has been generalized. The water purifying plants are located in some regions of Russia, on the spaceport Baikonur, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and in some foreign countries.
In the book have been presented outcomes of investigations on characteristics of microfiltration track membranes in sub-scale and full-scale conditions, the examples of pilot-industrial microfiltration plants have been given. Mathematical models developed for selection of optimal regimes of processes have been presented. A technology developed for membrane desalination of the Caspian Sea water that realized in the CIS's largest Mangistaussky desalination plant in Aktau, republic of Kazakhstan, has been described. The membrane technology of deep desalination of brackish mine waters for the purpose of production of demineralized water, waterless sodium sulfate and other mineral salts has been shown.
