ACTIVITIES ON DROPLET COOLER-RADIATOR

Development of the droplet cooler-radiator enables a significant improvement of weight-dimension characteristics of power plants of the spacecraft, their reliability, and, accordingly, service life and operational safety. Methods and design have been developed which provide generation of flows of monodisperse droplets 200 - 300 m in diameter and their collection on the moving film of the same working fluid as droplets.

The cooler-radiator model has undergone successfully tests in microgravity and high vacuum on board the orbital station "Mir". In accordance with the R&D program "ISS - Nauka" scientific instrumentation is under development for a space experiment, the purpose of which is improving characteristics of such radiators.

The experimental development of the units of drop cooler-radiator was fulfilled for the purpose to obtain the stable performance capabilities.

A cycle of investigations was made onboard orbital station "Mir" on one of the scientific equipment "Pelena-2" sets, it uses on the Earth for testing the elements and units of drop cooler-radiator.

SPA "Energomash" and FSUE "Keldysh Research Center" developed conceptual design of multi-functional engine for transportation module of solar power propulsion system. The main results of the project works were presented on International Air-show "MAKS-2003"
